Why? People say "Oh, it's horrible and isn"t good, GRRRRR" even though... It isn't. The biggest complaint I've heard is it's cast time which is completely fine.

Easy to dodge. Hard to aim. I like it. Uses up my opponent's Int and Att to carry it.

It's only marginally useful in PVE because it has 20 casts and is more powerful than greater soul arrow. But it's cast time is slow, it can't hit flying enemies and very often it will travel up a wall rather than go forward to where you wanted it to go.
In PVP it's damn near useless. When I see people using it, I simply side step them, no need to even dodge, and at the ranges I'm usually at with Mages, it usually means a free backstab for me.
I've only been killed once by it, and that was when I got ganked in the forest and was locked in a TWoP.
Looks cool though.

It is near impossible to hit lock-on. Lock-off you can deal a clean hit IF you predict where they will move, but you have in general a 3 way choice which I would say aren't good odds.

Its only saving grace imo is sometimes people get sloppy and will walk over the crystals and take dmg after dodging it. Kinda of like chaos pyromancies. Would be a lot better if it stayed there longer.

its meant to be used with the tcc cause of the high cast number. with tcc it does nicely but it needs 45 dex to be pvp viable at all... its basically a mid speed laser...

I have only ever used it on the old 'Alvina bridge' trick to OHKO rushing gankers...the crown/bellowing/TCC and 50 INT makes it hit like a tank!!!
I USED to get so many people trying to block spells(without the crest shield).....ahhh the good old days when stuff like that worked
