I love playing Dark Souls when its raining and owning in the forest

Its been raining all weekend where I'm at and I have been on a pretty epic crusade in forest all weekend. I have been playing at sl200 new game+ in the forest and it has been a murder fest. I used to get beat down by forest invaders now I am the one laying it down, this is the greatest game ever made I love it.

Apologies to anyone here that may have gotten angry at me. I'm on PS3 under my user name with knight's armor and a zweihander. And much respect to my friendly phantom crusaders

I'm trying to decide whether to continue on today its still raining. My adventure came to a halt at 7am this morning, I was pretty wasted and very tired playing for 9 hours straight. I was running to recover my souls by alvina and I got real stupid and turned to fight the axe guy and the sorcerer some how shot me from long range.

I lost 19 million souls that was over 40 levels! Oh Dark Souls I love you.

I'm pretty sure if i was wasted playing Dark Souls the sorcerer in the forest could even kill me.

So, you are hosting in the forest eh? I'll look for you when I'm invading in the name of Alvina.

Bring it on! I never understood why hosting in the forest automatically makes you a ganker. Most of my fights are 2 on 2, plus a bunch of unfriendly forest npcs. Most of the forest invaders run to the back of the forest like cowards to heal when their health gets low, bringing the tress into the fight. If I wanted to gank people I would just hang out in the Kiln.

In my opinion the forest is pretty even odds with it being 2 vs 2, plus all the forest npcs. I didn't see much honor among the forest invaders trying to kill me by any means necessary.

However I did get a Red phantom that wanted to fight honorable duels. So I obliged after he gestured friendly. I summoned phantoms for him to fight, they would bow each time and allow buffs. The red phantom would lose sometimes, re invade and then I would continue hosting as neutral. It was fun to watch people fight each other.

It automatically makes you an assumed ganker because 99% of the hosts will jump you with their phantoms. Because of this fact, it is assumed you are a ganker until proven otherwise.

And, saying running away to heal is being cowardly, you are in the wrong place. Forest isn't about duelling (with subjective constantly moving ideas about engagement rules). It is about war. I will do everything I can to win, because my opponents will. It is a completely different mentality. And, it is both refreshing and exhilarating. In fact, I find it relaxing.

If you want to host honorable duels in the forest, more power to you. But, that is not the forest meta.

That being said, if I do run into a host that appears to be looking for duels, I will do the bow, "honorable" gameplay. It doesn't happen often to me, however. Maybe a couple times out of 1,000 invasions.

Awww guy now I want to get in on the forest as well..... I missed owning 3v1 Gank Squads or doing my Leap of Faith only to see my opponent plunge to his death.....
