    How good is 100 Poise?

Is it better to have Armor or Elemental Resistance?

    Is 535 Physical damage good?

It sound suspiciously like you're new a to the game and probably shouldn't be here, and that you need a much more background info to give my answeres any meaning.

    https://soulswiki.forumotion.com/t3650-resource-threads-to-check-out-for-rookies-and-vets

    try that

    but in short

    1 overkill

2 Armor, untill you hit 350+

3 Damage? extremely good. AR? decent

100 Poise is useless. Make it 106.

+500 pure physical is always good.

keep in mind, that when you're damage starts climbing over 400 ar it'll be doing much more than when it's climbing to 400.

also.. i feel like you're just looking at an elemental weapon and going wowzers this is good!
actually no they're split damage, so each group of damage is like hitting with a really weak weapon and the combined damage being the result.

and yeah 100 is so unnecessary.. http://forums.demonssouls.info/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=14822
get 56, that's usually what i hit. it lets you tank a few hits from the faster weapons easily.

Could you maybe let us know exactly what armor you are using, weapon, and the type of build you have? It would help us help you better.

    Steel Armor Set

    Steel Sheild

    Great Lord Greatsword

Vit, End, Dex, and STR all at 40 for a Weapon Master build. I'll be swapping to other stuff as I need it, but for the most part GLGS.

Well with a 40/40 you will deal a **** ton of damage with a +15 Claymore, you'll find yourself super happy with the damage in fact. As well great shields aren't all that good for PvP due to dead angles, and the existence of spells. Not to mention backstabs. Might I suggest a shield for quick blocking, Heater. It has low weight, and 100% physical blocking as well as decent fire. Getting your weight down seems important.

Plus, the Heater has really nice stability. It is probably one of the best small shields around.

Best shield in the game, IMO.

Would a Claymore be better to use over the GLGS? Not going to lie, Clay is my favorite weapon, but I'm trying to branch out a little, as well.

More damage is more damage, I do prefer to use the GLGS for style, but Claymore will be more effective, plus you can buff it with resin like poison.

Especially at 40/40, the claymore is hands down in the top 2 great swords in game. Only the moonlight greatsword could be argued as better, its faster but unbuffable.

Don't get me wrong, all great swords are good, but the claymore defines the group.

Ok, Claymore for PVP it is.

Why are Greatsheilds so bad? What is this Dead Angling I hear so much about?

Dead angling ignores shields, so you'll be up against attacks that cannot be blocked.

Specifically does it (A la Shotel), or is it just a technique I'm going to be picking up?

Technique. You have to swing your weapon a certain way to do it.

Its how blocking is detected. You can only block attacks if you're facing eachother, ie you can only block attacks from in front of you. If the attacker isn't facing you, the game thinks you're not in a proper position for the block to work.

Thats a simplification, but its basicly what it is and why it works.

I also think it kinda makes sense in a way rather than just being mechanics. If I am swinging my sword in such a way that it hits your side and the edge of your shield it should damn well hurt you!
