Is there anyone knowledgeable about hacking psp?

Okay, I'm having a little problem. One of my cousin left me a psp that he had hacked with IR Shell 3.9. I wanted to uninstall it so I could install a more recent one. (Do keep in mind, I'm new to this hacking psp thing, so I really don't know very much.)
While searching online, I found that you only had to delete the folders related to it, and that was it. Or so I thought. After the deletion of the folders, I formatted the memory card so that I could download the newest firmware. But it turns out, the display of the system, it is still in IR Shell's format, which blocks any type of updates, so now I cannot even manually update it, and I'm stuck with a game that I don't know how to "un-hack".

Help?

Why don't you ask your cousin, wouldn't he have first-hand knowledge of the situation?

Skare I think that is worth asking a mod about. hacking a PSP and modding DkS are two very different flavours.

I'd rather not publicly discuss it. The idea is to not draw unwanted attention to the site and Sony has made it pretty clear how they feel about PSP hacks. Since Dark Souls is also on a Sony platform it's theoretically possible their eye of Sauron might gaze this way. I know it's a long shot but don't see much reason to risk it.

He pm'ed me. But I actually managed to fix it back into an official firmware thanks to Hellcat's Recovery Flasher.
