    Murakumo use. Empty Murakumo use.

    Post by Rifter7 Sun Aug 26, 2012 1:41 am

hey. soo.. i thought i'd just pick this thing up with barely any prior experience with big weapons except great swords, halberds and scythes.

yeah idk wtf im doing with it.

soo.. can i get some tips? i try to just use just the mura in fights but i end up just swapping back to the kilij, using it to have a shield and do big bs's or losing the fight if im stubborn and don't swap.

i've got the deadangle r1's down, and have been told to run r1 it 1 handed and 2h r1 for stunlocks. but that's about it. thanks for any info in advance.

Just point and swing, it's the kind of weapon that does it all for you. Just always dead angle, it's easy to parry.

I suppose I shouldn't mention the BS cancel techniques with it, or the tricks that come with using just the tip of the weapon and no other part of it.

It's point and swing. Point Forward

The R2-R2 combo is surprisingly effective. Many people don't see that second R2 coming, but it really hurts.

if you don't want to go into detail about the mura that's fine. i can just research it a bit more... i know what you're talking about, i've cancelled backstabs unknowingly with it before. i just am not good enough to do it on a whim yet.

    r2-r2 1h or 2?

yeah see i've been told that before too.. but i've seen people use it 2h as a wild card effectivley as well.

mostly the dash r1 2h... which for a while i actually thought was a jump r2.

i think i'll stick with 1h as a rule of thumb and throw 2h in there to surprise people once in a while.

2h has a worse animation and will cost you more stamina to use, you will stunlock longer and deal more damage one handed.

Jump R2 is good against parry spammers, as well for catching people off guard. It does a wide arcing swing practically making anything in a 180 degree cone in front of you take damage, just be wary of BS like with any R2. Roll R1 is okay, it's very slow. What you need it for is catching people as they are coming towards you, so it really works best as a purely defensive attack.

well how are you using it?

people have told me not to use certain moves in the past.. but they all have a use. except maybe the uchi/washing/cblade 2h r2.

okay, yeah i'd use the roll r1 offensively a lot and start wailing at how slow it was when i'd get hit.

i'm glad i can still use it defensively tho.

what if i backroll out and r1 as they roll in to hit me? that sounds like it'd be the best for it?

I've been doing pretty well with it. Mostly stunlocking/dead angling people, and switching to 1h for the running attack.

btw when i break lock to r1, how am i swinging the thing at them?

if that's even possible to describe.. i go to my right like less than 45 degrees right and want the point to land at their feet basically?

what do i do with the followup r1? to the left?

It's hard to describe. You just swing to you sides at an angle.

The common trick is to actually swing behind yourself, then into them and repeat. Another one is as you described, yours is a bit better for offense but swinging behind you will also stop people from easily BS'ing you.

And correct, rolling away and doing R1 as they chase is a great way to use the rolling attack.

I just swing after them if they try to BS me, and since almost no one can take two 2h mura attacks i usually stunlock them.

swing behind me.. i've seen people do that with a mura and i always win vs them if they keep doing it.. i can't remember what i do but i know that when they do that weird r1 behind them i always have some subliminal trick i do to win.

seems like a lot of time to get an r1 in too, how am i using that tactic?

yeah i'd like to get better with the 2h r1's*** as well, do they just easily transfer over?
spurgun we should have mura duels. i dont want to be on youtube tho i suck with this thing.

That's the issue, many use that trick while chasing, which is not good with that weapon. What you want to do is do an aggressive attack, like the running R1, then as they try to punish them you go for your R1. The thing to the Mura is due to its slow swings, you do have to pay close attention to your timing and range. It's why spears are really good against the Mura.

wait wait.. so dash r1, predict roll stab, unlocked r1 behind and follow up r1 if it connects?

the horizontal chop to the left of me or to the right? i do the downstrike chop, the first r1 to the right.

and if they pull out a spear i'm just gonna shred them with a kilij, a bow and my pyros and ill go back to using mura as a backstab weapon.

Yep, when you get the timing down its a great wait to bait roll stabs into easy kills.

okay thats some useful info.. i'll thumbs up the spurgun and wisp posts tomorrow.

    thanks forum.
and if any of you want to have mura duels lmk. i wouldn't get to excited or come to conclusions if you win tho, i do suck with this thing but i'd treat it like a real fight only without my kilij and pyros.
