Good PvP Straight Sword

For my Oscar build at SL 80 Im currently using the SKSword with 16 str, 34 dex. Now while I do have 30 fth I want to keep the toon sin free, and Im not sure on the consensus ok absolving after killing Dolin. So I'm looking at getting a lightning straight sword instead, as the SkSword just doesnt do enough damage. So what are the best straight swords? I know the BSS but I'm rather use something else.

Sunlight straight sword? Anyway,if you make it elemental I think the SkSword will still do more damage.

You can't make the SKS elemental.

I would suggest a regular longsword, or a sunlight sword, IMO they're pretty much the same.

The SKSword uses twinkling and only goes to +5.

Looks like the sunlight sword so far. Maybe suggest something else so I dont have to go all the way to izalith?

With what you have said I would suggest the Balder Side Sword. I mean Im no fan of the weapon but from what I hear it has great range, and damn ridiculously damaging R2 thrust attack, and is a dex scaling weapon. thus a +15 with a buff would be amazing..... but if you are going the elemental way i suggest you take back all of that dex bacause its essentially useless.

This is the build I fought you with Viral, I need the dex for the DSS and my GLS.

Then pick up the Baller Swag Sword.... I mean Balder Side Sword. It fits perfectly with your build then. Just sub in Sunlight Blade or something. That would be a super damaging combo.

But the BSS is widely regarded as the best Longsword varient.

Use Longsword, elemental its pretty sick. It also has a thrust 1H R2! I like Longsword, doesn't get enough love imo.

Longsword is just as good as the bss when elemental but without h all that dex you might as well go bss. The Longsword kicks *** on a 40/40 build though .

Yeah, if you don't want to use a BSS, longsword is the next best. The things you can do to people with two chained R2 attacks basically violate the Geneva Conventions. I updated the wiki entry a while back to explain it a bit:

Nooo! Stop sharing my secretive Longsword! Use teh broadsword - it is highly underrated.

The Sunlight Straight Sword is the moveset of the Longsword with the power of the Broadsword. If you have the stats and the 4EL, and are doing something like a 40/40 build, then you should use that one. If you prefer the moveset of the Broadsword, use that one. The Longsword is just fine as well, but technically inferior to them both. The Sliver Knight Sword is not great, but if you like the moveset, it's power is all DEX based, so instead of 40/40 you can do a 16/40 and do some Sunlight Blade love on it instead (that would probably be the strongest of these choices). At those stats, it does out damage the Balder Side Sword, but not by enough to justify its awesome moveset, it does only require Twinkly titanite though. I think I'd consider the Broadsword or the Sliver Knight's, but that's very personal, because I've always wanted to try those weapons out.

Longsword awesomeness is not a secret anymore

Remember you can buff the SK sword. It may be slow, and with a predictible moveset, but has a great range, running one handed and rolling two handed attacks are pretty good.


Also, no love for Darksword? Badass moveset IMO

I think most of the straight swords are both effective and pretty underrated. I rewrote the longsword and BSS wiki entries a while back since I use them almost exclusively, but encourage folks to update the wiki with their pro tips so the rest of us can fall in love with their favorite. For example the shortsword tips section currently reads "Backstab." C'mon now

Darksword looks too different from the astoran straight sword for the build.
Like I said I dont want to kill Dolin and hve sin so I cant get SLB.

OH well i still suggest the BSS for its face destroying R2 move!
