    This matters little, but it kind of interests me.

    How did the online play items like the White Sign Soapstone, Red Sign Soapstone, and Orange Guidance Soapstone come from? Did they just somehow appear when the flow of time in Lordran distorted?

    ......yes.

    I think it would be safe to assume that maybe this stuff is the basic writing utensil in Lordran. The flow of time and such just so happens to affect the writing. Though I can't really don't know myself.
