Capitalism milking Individuality Empty Capitalism milking Individuality

Post by Eolan Tue Aug 21, 2012 6:38 am

Just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were on this, would you guys pay real money for armor dyes? How about capes or flags? Plumes?

Im wondering what methods of customization the souls series could/would offer. Especially regarding the new PVP set up, i think its a shame not to offer some kind of broader aesthetic suite. I think its some of the greatest costume design ive seen in a video game, but being so well put together and well silhouetted/shaped the items can withstand a certain amount of accessorizing happy

How about magic aura? Like purple instead of blue etc like quake three let you change the colour of your particles. How about a bright pink puffy plume?

These would work just like titantite upgrades on armor. You bolt them on at a blacksmith happy

I know morally that is a terrifying prospect but almost everyone i encounter in dark souls on XBL has spent MS points on dark souls avatar costumes. So there is a market for pissing away those last 80 or so points.

Now if there were an in game store that let you buy aesthetic flair items for the same price i bet FROM could earn the kinda money to actually run some servers... happy

Id pay 80 per piece for a bright Pink leather armor/ pink thief mask. Then a nice red cape

Its all irrelevant to me right now my dark souls disk got terminally ill recently and im waiting for a second copy...

I would be totally gutted if what you are describing comes to pass.

I love the way it is now, each piece of armor seems important and significant this way. If everyone starts running around with full havels in their fav colors and a pink fathers mask im going to be gutted crushed sad

    Here goes a suggestion.

Pick an armour set or weapon inside the same category. Pay, switch stats. Your Warrior Leather Set? Now it's got the stats (including weight and poise) of your Elite Knight Armour Set, if you - for some unfathomable reason - don't like the latter.

Weapons should have some more restrictions - same movesets, same upgrades, non-boss soul, etc.

Also: Renaming your weapons once they ascend to the max! It's not a Fire Scimitar +5 anymore, it's Firebrand.

    I say nay.

Don't fix what isn't broken. The more bells and whistles it gets the more it will start to become "those other games"

Not a bad idea of course, just not for DKS
If anything just add more armor. Maybe armors similar to others but with slight varied appearances.

See having 20 different shapes and designs for each armor value would have a similar effect. I would just like to see more unique looking characters. Perhaps with the idea of recognising each other by look alone.

I also want a bright lime green illuminous smough suit.

I wouldn't go for colors, but the ability to customize the crests and designs on very specific armors and shields would be awesome.

Like the crest shield or elit knight set.

Having armour that has the stats of another armour sounds good for style, but gearing up for a fight would be confusing. Havels could be maiden stats, someone in a dress could be tanked up the wazoo... how would you determine your strategy?

I love aesthetics and would definitely pay for some in Dark Souls.
The only problem is with custom painted armor, you wouldn't be able to see that when you invade or do co-op. Only world hosts would be able to display that.

If i was given the chance id just have 20 variants for every piece of armor. Aesthetic differences but no real stat change. I would also steadily release new pieces every month into the game world through either gift wraiths or random spawn.

Think about how specific the game world and item placement is. Where would you have these random spawns???

In the same chests. The game tracks if you've emptied and opened a chest already (theres a persistant graphical change ie the chest remains open). It would be simple to program a system that flags the emptied chests and when you release a new set of gloves or something it will find its way into one of those chests, closing it again. Make it fairly random and limited to Ng+ games and were onto a never ending exploration of this beatifully crafted world.

"New 0 poise helmet relesased today" Im a hunt that down. Revisit where ive been. I like my idea sad Shut up happy

That's actually a really good idea, it would be awesome to wait for a couple months or so and go on an entire set treasure hunt through lordran.. What if the area with the closed chests be open to invasions? There would probably be gankers but I just see that as more souls and humanity for us.

It's the Free 2 Play model, it works and FROM could institute it but we'd need constant influxes of new content. It will never happen
