[Prototype] Pickaxe build...lol, wait what? {Help?}

So here I am taking advantage of what (to my knowledge) is the best STR based thrusting weapon (Second option is Warpick) and the Leo Ring for great damage.

Yeah, this build is serious.

I've never used it, but you're not likely to get counters with that short, slow weapon. It might work at a lower level though, it's just that at 120 people are generally optimized for serious killing and you might have a hard time.

Isn't the damage modifier on a parried opponent treated as counter damage, so long you don't actually Riposte them?

Yeah, it does. It might actually work to stunlock them as they're in the animation then, doesn't the Pickaxe have the same poise break as the Axe class weapons? I don't know how much poise the mace class breaks, but the Battle Axe does the same as a GS.

Pickaxe is treated as a Hammer type weapon and is a thrusting weapon. The attack animations are also similar to axes so, from a guess, I would place the pickaxe as a tier 3 weapon (36 poise for resist); it is up there with GS.

Anyways, I have some sad news, unless my testing was wrong, parry damage is not counter damage, but hey, most likely going with the riposte instead of an average attack.

its sheer power combined with its armor piercing capabilities makes it one of the best hammers. my pickaxe build won fairly often and it didn't use leo ring.

The humble Pickaxe is a weapon to be truly feared, whenever I see one I often run
in the opposite direction (no joke), to combine it with the Leo Ring it's quite possibly
the most overpowered weapon, but I do admit it does take skill to use effectively
which is perhaps why it's so often overlooked

I would go with 40 str and use the greataxe for riposte, you're gonna need a lot more poise than hat since Yiure gonna be trading blows with people since the oickaxe is slow and short. Switch your rings to wolf ring and Leo ring, 1500 vit is enough since yi u will be doing around 500 per you ten hit.
